Attachments for equipment like backhoe loaders, skid-steers, for klifts, tele handlers and excavators are popular in international market for more than a decade now. The varied attachments for any kind of job are to be fitted in most common of the equipment available at  any construction location, making these attachments  a must-have at a time when everyone is looking to increase productivity at lesser costs.

The attachments   like leveling grader, swinging planer, snow blower, road sweepers, grapples, breakers, forks, compactors, augers, trenchers and many more transform different machines into multi-functional equipment giving lot of flexibility to the construction companies meeting  their  varied needs. Attachments add to the  versatility and productivity of equipment for all customer segments.

Everyone buying equipment these days is worried about ROI,  but if the investment is made on adding an attachment  to the existing equipment in fleet to make it all together  a different  equipment, the  ROI can be significantly higher than  on a machine with just a conventional bucket or fork. Attachments for equipment are boon in a dynamic market where innovation continues  to  improve the  versatility and productivity of machines. The Indian market has huge potential  for  these  attachments  and  the  awareness to  the  fleet owners is required to  make these more in Indian market.  GF Gordini is a well-known brand in Europe manufacturing these attachments for over two decades now. We enter into the market with an aim of optimum financial utilisation of the equipment not limiting it to the only use for which it was originally designed.  With backhoe loaders,  excavators, wheel loaders being increasingly used in the Indian market, the immense range of GF attachments  will make their capability endless.

The key element of the attachments is to help fleet owners save time and money by offering them the right attachment  for the right job.  This will help them save money in buying an extra equipment which is required for a limited period of time in the project & then stands idle giving poor or less ROI. A good and correct attachment can easily return 100 per cent of its cost in a year, whereas a standalone equipment may only return 25 to 30 per cent. Every customer has a different need and we enter into this line with an aim to fulfil all their needs through varied attachments in our range of supplies while we keep ourselves open for more innovations based on customer’s feedbacks and futuristic requirements making us different from other few prevailing suppliers.

Looking at augmenting capacity threefold

With customers in great numbers at its stall, Ajashy Engineering attracted meaningful crowd in bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2018. Following a promising start, the company witnessed enthusiastic overwhelming response and robust participation from the industry.

The main focus area of the company has been mobility of service and repairs for plant and equipment and thus we launched Container Workshop in this bauma which is displayed along with company’s established product mobile service van – a multipurpose vehicle used for maintenance and repair of construction and mining equipment at site told Vasishat.

“Being the only manufacturer of these kind of products in India, we have earned distinctive recognition in the market. With the addition of container workshop our portfolio in this space becomes even stronger as industry required a pack and move full-fledged service solution like this ,” Singh adds.

The oil & gas and road equipment manufacturers and suppliers also have partnered with an Italian company G.F. Gordini S.r.l, and has launched front end attachments for construction equipment whose full range will be launched in early 2019. This new tie up will diversify focus of the company on multiple utility of equipment so that the capital cost and operational cost for acquiring and maintaining equipment could be lowered.

Year ahead
Turnout from elections this year would mostly determine the construction industry’s trajectory. This is because the way the government has worked since 2014 has contributed significantly to the construction industry. Owing to the positive environment that has been created, the industry is keen on the government staying.

Still, considering the industry we are in, a lot depends on the market which is quite upbeat and has witnessed growth of 35 per cent. If the present government stays, the industry is likely to witness steady growth not just in 2019 but also in 2020 and 2021.

Going ahead, prospects for road segment are looking up in addition to new ventures and in-land projects that are likely to fortify growth and seem promising.

Talking about output, the capacity has to be augmented greatly in the wake of the current demand glut.

“We have to increase capacity by three times. While we were making the products, our focus was on providing quality that led to a number of repeat orders. So, we have been quite steady in that,” both of the speakers resonated.

If the present government stays, the industry is likely to witness steady growth not just in 2019 but also in 2020 and 2021.

Lighting for Construction

Though there are many existing players in the market, the development in the field of lighting masts had become stagnant. …

Though there are many existing players in the market, the development in the field of lighting masts had become stagnant, says Kamal Jeet Singh, Director, Ajashy Engineering

In today’s competitive world, time is as valuable as money, and thus, working at days and resting at nights have become a thing of the past. Like any other industry, the construction sector has also adapted the culture of working at nights but the challenge is bigger. While others work in confined areas, a construction site needs effective and efficient systems to light up the work sites. While many temporary lighting provisions were used in the past, the industry has realised the importance of having dedicated lighting systems called as the lighting masts or tower lights, which are essentially a power source, coupled with a mast fitted with lights.

Lighting source

While there were many existing players in the market, the development in the field of lighting masts had become stagnant, and the use of foreign-made engines and components made it enormously difficult for users to repair the lighting masts at far flung remote sites.

Thus, we conceptualised a lighting source with 100 per cent Indian made components, and we were among the firsts to introduce the LED lights instead of conventional lights. We further ventured into making an industry first Hybrid Lighting Mast.

 Key Features

Ajashy lighting masts come fitted with 11 hp diesel engine with 7.5 kva alternator. The power capacity has been chosen judicially to be good enough to provide lighting as well as facilitate the users to use auxiliary power to run small equipment, while the fuel consumption is easy on the pocket.  200 W/400 W x 4 nos LED flood lights mounted on 6.5 m or 9.5 m mast options give efficient lighting with remarkable life-cycle. CPCB-II approved canopy ensures that the lighting mast can be used everywhere without any restrictions. The sturdy trolley mounted with leaf springs gives ease of mobility in rough areas. Further, 100 per cent Indian components ensure easy serviceability, short TATs after breakdown and remarkably low repair and maintenance costs are recorded…

 Wave of the future

Realising the importance of lighting source for the project sites and keeping in view the ever-rising prices of fuel, Ajashy Engineering has been working since 2015 to come up with cost-effective hybrid solutions for lighting masts. In the same bid, we launched India’s first Hybrid Lighting Mast that used a regenerative power back up system and reduced the fuel consumption to 50 per cent as it could give a back up of four hours. We are also working towards harnessing the solar energy and using it for lighting masts. Our work on the hybrid systems will reflect in our future offerings, which will be announced soon.

With the growing tribe of lighting masts that are owned by all the major road construction and infrastructure companies, we are committed towards supplying efficient, cost-effective, environment-friendly and most advanced solutions for the lighting of sites.  While the Indian construction sector is on the growth and work is being executed on a 24 x 7 mode, though our lighting solutions are small they are the most important contributors in making non-stop work at sites a reality.

Getting more out of equipment fleet

Ajashy Engineering launched the GF range in India during bauma CONEXPO India 2018 and shall start rolling out the products. …

Dozers

Ajashy Engineering launched the GF range in India during bauma CONEXPO India 2018 and shall start rolling out the products in the market by end of January 2019. Adityajay Khajuria shares more.

The story of the Indian construction industry is changing faster than ever, with influx of multiple projects and participation of various smaller contractors contributing significantly and walking shoulder-to-shoulder with the big mainstream contractors. While the big contractors have to keep up with the smaller counterparts in terms of low institutional and operational costs, the smaller ones have to work hard to acquire the expertise and equipment to counter the stake of big competitors. Industry as whole has to be very cautious the capital purchases they make in order to avoid the situations where installments for dead fleet eat up the profits earned from projects which are otherwise required to fund projects and maintain a positive cash flow…

While Ajashy Engineering has always emphasised on making contractors aware of the importance of maintaining their equipment fleet in good health, resulting into maximising the fleet availability, we have now diverted focus on multiple utility of equipment so that the capital cost and o perational cost for acquiring and maintaining equipment could be lowered. This will make contractors use the same equipment to do multiple tasks by spending marginally on the attachments rather than buying a complete new equipment. To take this thought forward, Ajashy Engineering has joined hands with G.F. Gordini Srl Italy.

An Italian manufacturer founded in 1985, G.F. Gordini manufactures over thirty attachments, each one of them in different versions, meant to match with skid steer loaders, loaders, backhoe loaders, excavators, and telescopic handlers. All attachments are entirely engineered by GF that produces technical documentation as well. GF offers equipment for ROAD LINE which include attachments for road works: planers and wheel excavators for asphalt and concrete; sweepers for use on roads, yards, inner and outer surfaces; CONSTRUCTION LINE such as job site attachments: graders for ground levelling and preparation; mixer buckets for cement preparation; backhoes and hammers suitable for skid steer loaders for digging and demolition jobs; SNOW LINE such as attachments for snow removal from roads, yards, parkings, etc: snow blades, snow blowers; and GREEN LINE such as  augers for post hole digging, mulching heads for green maintenance and shrub cutting,  and pliers for timber, scrap, paper  and rubble.

Ajashy Engineering launched the GF range in India during bauma CONEXPO India 2018 and shall start rolling out the products in the market by end of January 2019. The after sales service shall be taken care of by the pan-India service network of Ajashy Engineering. The company will also stock fast moving attachments and parts as per the market response and requirement. We are hopeful to add a new dimension to the Indian construction industry backed by Italian product quality and our proactive after-sales support.

Procurement means adding value in optimum cost

India has always been a cost sensitive market where the product quality matters but the price too is critical in finalisation. …

India has always been a cost sensitive market where the product quality matters but the price too is critical in finalisation of procurement, according to Adityajay Khajuria, Director, Ajashy Engineering Sales Pvt Ltd.

Change in project procurement
Since the infrastructure sector has seen challenging times in the recent past, general approach to procurement has become quite conservative, despite the market being up and strong. For capital purchases, the emphasis has shifted to hiring rather than owning equipment for which balance between ‘owning and rental cost’ is ignored sometimes. Also, equipment are being procured in project cost rather than as assets to lower the risks of negative impact related to a project on the complete organisation.

Value-oriented projects
All the products being sold by Ajashy Engineering are value-oriented projects. For example, the company is a leading supplier of mobile service van which is not a product without which a project cannot be executed but is still sold in healthy numbers as it effects the overall project progress by improving the equipment fleet availability to the project. Similarly, lighting masts facilitate the feasibility of working at the night with the same pace as during day light, almost doubling the project pace.

Latest offering
The six-year old company has few firsts in its name and it aims to continue following the tradition. The emphasis next will be on enhanced options of mobile repairs and maintenance, embedment of solar energy in construction equipment and attachments which will enable users to use same machine for multiple applications. The same will be witnessed in the company’s future product launches in upcoming expos.

Making procurement effective
The meaning of the word procurement goes beyond buying. It’s about understanding the amount of value that can be brought to the organisation and to the society in whole while keeping the costs optimum. The new launches will translate just to that. The company with its products will provide cost-effective solutions to its customers which would not trim project costs alone but also would be greener than ever.

Leveraging government initiatives
Make in India in its true sense was launched to attract manufacturers outside the country to start manufacturing in India. But, soon it was translated by local manufacturers into a mission to make quality and be cost competitive in the country only. This has empowered the purchasers to have the option of buying at optimum costs, to be able to set standards and specifications as per their customised requirements, cut short on inventory due to short lead times. The initiative has provided as positive environment for the industry which takes pride in competing with leading foreign manufacturers and making the project ecosystem self-reliant.

Make in India has provided positive environment that helps in competing with foreign manufacturers and making project ecosystem self-reliant.

stable-slopes

The boom in compact construction equipment has opened up a whole range of new
considerations and options to consider in specifying equipment for the job. The use of these
new compact equipment & attachments for the right tasks can boost productivity over
previous approaches without buying complete equipment in itself which might not be as
effective as required for the desired output. Gone are be the days where equipment
selection was based on what’s available at site to do the job versus the proper equipment
required for the job. Tackling tasks without proper equipment can result in low productivity,
higher cost, and increased repairs, maintenance and downtime.

Keeping this in mind, Ajashy Engineering Sales is always focused on new ideas and
innovation and has come out with many products, which are well accepted in industry. One of
such products being Slope Compactor Roller & with it get ready to tackle uneven terrain over
slope. It is the ideal attachment for slope compaction, landscaping and paving operations. Its
ease as an plug & play attachment to Excavator, Skid steer, Backhoe Loader delivers faster
results in fewer passes.

The conventional soil compactor rollers fail on slopes and cannot be used as they are unable
to climb the gradient. They are also ineffective in constrained area where roller cannot move.
Oscillation of the drum allows the roller to compact the surface like any conventional
Compactor but offering more precise control when operating on slopes.. The uniqueness of
our design is length of rollers due to which more area is covered in single pass reducing the
compaction time & increasing the productivity. The selection of compaction equipment
depends upon the nature of the job, volume, distance, method of disposal, and time assigned,
volume and depth of soil to be compacted, type of soil, loads on compacted surface, etc. .
Depending on the jobsite customers can choose between a Smooth or Pad foot drum. Our

Slope Compactor Rollers are working with number of customers in Infrastructure sector and
are very well appreciated for performance and reliability of machine.
The success of our Slope Compactor makes us believe that innovations towards right
directions will build their own success stories & we as an organization thrive towards it to
make standard equipment available at all sites more versatile to be used for varied other
construction activities for which there should be no need to purchase another equipment
which might stand idle after small requirement of desired work.

Since its launch, the Ajashy Weldlights have been ordered by many prominent customers and the tribe is increasing at a healthy pace.

Ajashy Weldlight is a 6.5 m lighting mast fitted with 1 or 2 Nos. 400 amps welding heads powered with 15 kva or 30 kva diesel power generating systems correspondingly. The welding heads are enclosed in the CPCB II complaint silent canopy and welding output as well as auxiliary output are available at systematically designed panel. The panel has the provision of deriving welding output, welding remote and auxiliary output which can be used while lights are on and welding is being done. A change over switch facilitates the lighting mast and welding operations to cease and the complete unit can be used as a conventional 15 or 30 Kva, 3 Phase diesel power generator. The system is mounted on a sturdy trolley with 2 wheels with leaf springs and 6 outriggers. The Weldlight can be towed on roads and ROWs and withstand high wind speeds while deployed.

Weldlights come as a comprehensive solution to the customers who want to carry out various welding processes as sites at night. While earlier customers had to carry a lighting mast, a weldling machine and power generator to the site with requirement of a dedicated vehicle to carry power generator and welding machine, Weldlight combines all the three machines while multiple weldlights can be towed in turns by same carrier vehicle and placed at the stretch of site where they are required to be employed. While Weldlights provide extreme freedom to the customers in terms of usage and mobility, they also reduce the capital and operational costs making it an optimum solution in today’s competitive price driven market.

As Ajashy Engineering is committed to customer centric innovation, Weldlights come as another example of our engineering and design capabilities strengthening our resolve to think and innovate. Pipeline Construction

Pipeline Construction is a dynamic industry that continues to grow and change with the changes in the crude oil prices. The country has already seen a severe downtrend few years ago, leaving companies cash stripped and forcing them to quit the sector. With lot of ongoing and upcoming projects, the industry sees an upward trend but the dearth of equipment is leading to the delays in projects. The equipment required is niche, expensive and mostly imported so the fear factor of buying such expensive equipment persists which makes the pre-owned equipment market in this sector bigger than the new equipment market especially when it comes to critical equipment like Pipelayers, Pipe Benders and Boring Machines to name a few.

Image of a company is reflected by the condition of the equipment fleet it owns. While the looks matter, reliability and productivity of the equipment act as critical factors for timely project completion.  A relatively new, clean and recently painted equipment is any company’s best advertisement. If an equipment is non-presentable, emits loud noises and looks old enough to belong to the junkyard, then it doesn’t speak too highly of the organisation that owns it.  It is important to understand, that new equipment is not the only option if an organisation wants a reliable and productive equipment but option of procuring used equipment in good condition and with decent looks can also be considered. While operating construction business, it is important to invest the capital wisely. For any new site requirements buying a new equipment is the easiest thing to do, but there are times when it would make sense to invest in used equipment. Buying new equipment is an investment that can have a significant impact on company’s cash flow. Buying new may mean placing an order and waiting for equipment to get delivered. While there is the advantage of taking delivery of a new machine but a possible lag time might delay the project as well. However, one can purchase quality used equipment and at much lower costs.

There are a number of benefits in buying pre-owned machinery from a reliable source and Ajashy Engineering can boast about providing reliable equipment which are cost effective to the Oil and Gas contractors and help them to save their capital which can be invested in their other projects. The worry of reliability of equipment is taken care by Ajashy Engineering while ready to use equipment without much waiting period in India are supplied. Studying the dynamics of the market and customers’ organisational requirements, Ajashy Engineering keeps on exploring the best options available across the globe to purchase good, cost effective equipment and then carries out conditional repairs before making putting them for sale.  As long as the used equipment is properly maintained, it will hold its value.

While in need of equipment one needs to evaluate exactly how important is speed of delivery to the equation of spending money and period of use. Used equipment if available in good condition and available right away can drastically change the equation and supplier like Ajashy Engineering can add value to purchase of such pre-owned equipment providing support such as on-site commissioning and after sales support.
